About this Recipe

While fancy mealsare always fun and exciting, sometimes it feels good to go back to basics. Wethink about some of the staple foods, like pasta with tomato sauce, and thinkabout how often we eat it. Pasta is always around, and it can be a great mealwhen you’re in the mood for something filling.

Plus, it’s affordable and healthy! For this recipe, we used classic rigatoni pasta, although we recommend brown or whole-wheat pasta if you’re looking to cut down on your carb intake.

How to Eat Pastaand Stay Healthy

Pasta seems likea bad word to those who are looking to lose weight and reduce their intake ofcarbs. But the secret lies with how much you eat it, not whether you eat it atall. In Rome, Italians suggested that pasta should be eaten in practice withMediterranean eating styles, rather than Western eating habits.

Most pasta, like rigatoni, has a low glycemic count, so it isn’t naturally unhealthy to eat. But it should be eaten in tandem with plenty of healthy ingredients, including tomatoes and fresh vegetables so you are still getting a well-rounded dose of dietary nutrients.

Go forth andenjoy eating pasta!

The Secret ofReheating

In some cases, pasta may be even healthier for you if it’s reheated. This means that you can refrigerate it and then reheat it after a day or two, and it will have less starch than before. Sometimes, reheating pasta will turn it into a resistant starch which means it won’t affect your natural glucose levels. Plus, it will make you feel more full, preventing you from the temptation of overeating!
